House rules
Campus talk and city life from Eindhoven, Tilburg, Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Help each other, and respect each other's privacy.
THE SHORT VERSION
- No harassment, threats or hateNobody is a target here.
- No private informationNo addresses, numbers or private chats.
- About you? It comes downReport it and a moderator removes it.
- Any languageSame rules in every language.
The rules in full
- No harassment, threats or hate. Nobody is targeted for their nationality, religion, gender, sexuality or anything else.
- No private information. No addresses, phone numbers, emails, student numbers, private chats or leaked documents.
- Names are fine, rumours wait. A post that accuses a named person, spreads a rumour about them, or is about their sex life, health or sexuality waits for a moderator.
- About you? It comes down. Report it as “about me or someone I know” and a moderator removes it.
- Nothing illegal, no spam. No selling, no ads, nothing involving minors.
- Any language is welcome. The EN/NL switch changes the menus, never your posts. The same rules apply in every language.
What happens to a post
- STEP 1An AI checks it
Most posts go up right away. Possible hate, threats, damaging claims about a named person, or text the AI can't check wait for a moderator first, marked “waiting for a quick check”.
- STEP 2Moderators decide
Use Report on anything that breaks the rules. Threats, someone in danger, or a post about you reach a moderator at once. Outcomes: a warning, a 24-hour or 7-day posting ban, or a permanent ban. Only a moderator decides, never the bot.
- STEP 3You can appeal
Every decision and its reason shows up in Notices. Appeal once, and a different moderator looks at it.
Closed doesn't mean private: anything you post can be screenshotted.
HOW ANONYMITY WORKS
- We never store your email in readable form, only a keyed one-way fingerprint (HMAC-SHA256) to recognise you and keep banned accounts out. Tilburg shares its email domain with staff, so signing in there doesn't prove you're a student.
- Your email also sits in a sealed envelope, locked with a key split between the two founders and kept off the server. Opening it takes both founders, only in a legal emergency (a credible threat or a court order), for one specific post.
- Other students see your alias, like
Coffee-Goblin-42(new in every topic), and your school label. Details you share can still give you away. - The server knows which account wrote what, so you can delete your entries and mods can act on rule breakers. The mod desk never shows emails. This is pseudonymous, not anonymous to whoever runs the server: with database access and the server secret, someone could check a known email against the fingerprints.
- To limit login attempts we keep a daily keyed fingerprint of your IP address, not the address itself. The counts are deleted after 24 hours.
- Who else sees what: Cloudflare's bot check (Turnstile) sees your browser and IP on the login page, never your email. Anthropic's AI (Claude) sees the title and text of each post and of anything you translate, never who wrote it. The mods' private Telegram chat gets flagged and reported posts with a few account counts (age, posts, strikes), never who wrote them. The email provider sees your address when it sends your code, and our hosting providers keep short-lived technical logs.
- Delete your account any time on your account page. Your posts stay under their aliases, but your fingerprint and envelope are removed. A ban fingerprint and existing backups may stay for their set retention time.
- No trackers, no ads. Cookies only keep you logged in and remember your language.
- Anonymous isn't untouchable: if the law requires it, we remove illegal content.
